Going On Pilgrimage in Wilcannia-Forbes
Holy years are traditionally associated with pilgrimages to Rome, and other holy shrines. As not everyone is able to travel to Rome, Pope Francis has asked all bishops around the world to nominate local places of pilgrimage or designated shrines within their diocese.
Bishop Columba Macbeth-Green has designated five official Jubilee pilgrimage sites in the Diocese of Wilcannia-Forbes. The Diocese is geographically large and diverse. It includes twenty-two parishes in an area occupying half of New South Wales. Making a pilgrimage to all five sites will give you an appreciation of the size of the Diocese and the vast distances and the challenges faced by its people.
These sites provide a unique chance to receive the Jubilee plenary indulgence.
