The Chancery of the Diocese of Wilcannia-Forbes is known as ‘Mercedes House’. The building over the years has served as a place of education and traning by the Marist Brothers and the Sisters of Mercy.
The term ‘Mercedes’ translates from its Latin roots to ‘Mercy’ which is at the heart and charism of the Sisters of Mercy. The diocese purchased the home to be its Chancery office in 2018.
The Chancery is home various offices of the local Church here of Wilcannia-Forbes these offices include;
- The Office of the Bishop
- The Diocesan finance office
- The Marriage Tribunal
- Pastoral care services
Mercedes House is open from 9:00am until 5:00pm from Monday til Friday (Closed on Public Holidays)
